Lexicon Apocalypto Now Downloadable
I’ve updated the Lexicon Apocalypto, and now you can download it here. It’s currently downloadable as a Word document, and I’ll put up a PDF download soon.
Teasers …
So, I’m working on a new book. It’s a departure from the Apocalypto series, a little break. What do they call that refresher course in the middle of a marathon meal?
This story is called Give Me. It’s an erotic fairytale. Not erotic in the smexy sense, but erotic in the classical sense. It’s a tale of possession and reincarnation, of desire and obsession.
The cast of characters includes handsome and honorable Prince Galen, beautiful and kind Princess Diantha, the evil sorceress Lourdes — and her precocious little sister Elyse.
That’s Elyse on the cover.
Robin just sent me the cover. Again, she hits it out of the park. Makes me want to get the book finished pronto …
“You Guys Are Evil”
By now most people have heard — or heard about — Justin Bieber’s comment on why he would never become a US citizen.
“You guys are evil,” he jokes. “Canada’s the best country in the world.” He adds, “We go to the doctor and we don’t need to worry about paying him, but here, your whole life, you’re broke because of medical bills. My bodyguard’s baby was premature, and now he has to pay for it. In Canada, if your baby’s premature, he stays in the hospital as long as he needs to, and then you go home.”
I am not in JB’s demographic. Until I heard this comment, I had thought of “Justin Bieber” as a name, not a person. Now, I will always think of him with respect.
While searching for this quote, I saw that he’s been made to apologize for telling the truth — which only goes to prove his original point: You guys are evil.
We didn’t used to be.
I wonder if we’ll purge the evil in my lifetime. We’ve done it before. It could happen.
Spiderwork Goes to Reena’s Blog
Reena has posted her review of Spiderwork at Goodreads and on her blog.
I was following her tweets as she read the book. That was fun! But I was a little trepidatious about whether, in the end, she liked the story or not…
Khai, Scion of Luxor
In Spiderwork, Durga meets Khai, a gorgeous young prince from Luxor. If I were casting the movie, I wouldn’t even have to search for the man to play Khai.
No contest, Shemar Moore IS Khai of Luxor.
Confident, cute, yummy.
Unless anybody has any better ideas….
Bleeder’s First Review
I love reviews by Stacey at Goodreads, a thoughtful and critical reader. She’s just posted her review of Bleeder.
Spiderwork Goes to Book Noise and IPBR
Jennifer at Book Noise has reviewed Spiderwork.
(She loved it)
And Michelle at Indie Paranormal Book Reviews has reviewed it too.
(She liked it … but I don’t think she loved it — I hope I get her with Bleeder)
And the winner is …
Space Junque vs Hero Material
I can’t believe how much I miss Space Junque.
Not the story — it’s all there, unadulterated, in Hero Material.
But I want my Space Junque back! Is it just a sentimental attachment? I’ve set up a poll in the sidebar. Please vote!
And don’t worry – the same wonderful artist, Robin at Ludwig Design, designed both covers, so you won’t be hurting anyone’s feelings!
Genre Wars
And the battle is all in my (and many other authors’, it seems) brain.
I thought I wrote paranormal romance, but I’m starting to believe it’s more romantic sci-fi fantasy. For the Apocalypto series, think Dune meets Handmaid’s Tale meets Lorna Doone.
I need to consult a genre expert.
Copperhead
From the comments:
Stephanie says:
I loved the book and thought that they were an interesting concept to write about. I’m sure you get this question a lot but I couldn’t seem to find the answer anywhere. Are you ever going to revisit Char and Jake and what they did with the rest of their lives? I just kind of feel incomplete with how their story ended. The same thing goes for Durga and Khai. Are you ever going to tells us what happened in those 80 years that they rebuilt the world?
Yes, to all these questions.
I’m planning a third book set in the In Flagrante time period. It’s Jordana’s story, called Copperhead.
It opens when Jordana’s mother Rani (Jake’s half-sister) first becomes an exotic, about ten years before the events of Hero Material/Space Junque, and shows how Rani meets Jordana’s father and continues up to the opening of Bleeder. If you’ve started Bleeder, you’re probably wondering where Jordana got that snake tattoo!
Copperhead goes all the way to the opening of Bleeder. We’ll see much more of Jake and Char and Khai and Durga — also other favorites like Alice, Faina, and Mirabel.
Not to mention, what Sky’s life was like.
A true epic.
It’s plotted out. There are also at least two more books to come in the Ex Post time period. The only decision I have to make now is whether to focus on Copperhead first or finish the Ex Post cycle and then come back to the earlier time period.
Lexicon Apocalypto
There’s a new page on the site, a glossary of terms in the Apocalypto series. This was suggested by Stacey at Goodreads. Great suggestion! I’ve probably left terms out, so I may add to it from time to time.
I tried to make it not spoilery, so rather than a definitive guide it is more of an orientation device. There really are a lot of characters and new terms in this world.
EDIT: It’s been pointed out to me that I used “Space Junque” in the lexicon instead of “Hero Material.” Cripes! as Char would say. That was a total Freudian slip. I guess we know which title I love best…
